Tour OVERVIEW

The UNESCO World Heritage of Angkor is truly Cambodia’s iconic attraction. It is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia which stretches over some 400 km2, including some forested areas.

Angkor’s Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century.

But Angkor is only the beginning of Cambodia’s beauty. From pristine beaches and untouched jungles to stunning architectural feats, Cambodia has so much more to discover.

And travelling on your motorcycle is the perfect way to fully immerse yourself in the local culture as you become an active part of the scenery rather than passively observing it from a bus window.

We will enter Cambodia from Thailand through Koh Kong to Sihanoukville. We continue riding close to the costs through rural farmland to Sihanoukville, Kep, Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s bustling capital.

But the highlight truly is Siem Reap where we will explore some of the magic temples.

Day by Day Schedule

Day 1 / Bangkok-Chaolao

If you choose to fly straight to Thailand this day will consist mostly of flying and involves getting to Bangkok with enough time for a 2.5-hour transfer to our first hotel. If you’re part of a Group Arrival we’ll meet you at the airport; if not you will by then have our list of hotels for the tour and you can simply show your cab driver the name and address of the one at the top of the list. You’ll need to arrive by mid or late afternoon so we have time for some bike paperwork, and we’ll have a meet ‘n’ greet before we have our first dinner together. Overnight in Chaolao.

(250 km/155 miles)

Day 2 / Chaolao-Koh Kong (Cambodia)

We start our Best of Cambodia Motorcycle Tour by cruising in an eastern direction partially along the coast passing fishing villages, beaches, shrimp farms etc. In Chantaburi, we turn right and follow the provincial road towards the Cambodian border – an easy and enjoyable ride. In the later afternoon, we cross the Thai – Cambodia border and arrive in Hat Lek, the first small town on the Cambodia side. From here we pass Koh Kong and arrive at our little Resort near a river. Overnight near Koh Kong.

(210 km/130 miles)

3. Day / Koh Kong-Sihanoukville

Today we will continue to Sihanoukville riding many twisties and nice bends in great scenery. On the way, we will enjoy the scenic views through the forests and mountains and can also see the life of Cambodians in the countryside. Most locals live from agriculture such as growing rice and other crops. We will enter Sihanoukville through back roads following the coast. There are some beautiful beaches in this area. Set around a deep-water port on a peninsula jutting into the Gulf of Thailand, the provincial capital of Sihanoukville is lined with palm-fringed beaches, seafood restaurants and bars. During the last years, the town has been overwhelmed by tourists from China. Overnight in Sihanoukville.

(220 Km/137 miles)

Day 4 / Sihanoukville-Kep

Our best of Cambodia Motorcycle Tour continues following the Cambodian coast in the east direction towards Kep. We ride up to Phnom Bokor which is one of the most beautiful and mystical National Parks of Southeast Asia. It covers 140 thousand hectares of untouched mountain jungle and the biggest herd of wild elephants in Southeast Asia. During the French colonial times, the area was a holiday retreat due to its high altitude and cooler climate. Before we reach Kep we have a break at a pepper plantation. The pepper from this area is known to be one of the best in the world. Kep itself is a charming small seaside town located on a group of hills going down to the beach. With a little imagination, you feel you are in a sleepy seaside resort in Brittany or Normandy. In the evening we enjoy seafood dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight in Kep.

(200 Km/124 miles)

Day 5 / Kep-Phnom Penh

Today we ride to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. We will visit the “Killing Fields” on the way, which gives you some information about the sad history of Cambodia and must be included on our Best of Cambodia Motorcycle Tour. Phnom Penh is a chaotic, energetic and fascinating city. Graceful tree-lined boulevards and riverfront promenades are reminders of bygone eras; today they teem with life and activity, as motorcycles weave in and out of traffic, vendors hawk their wares, and pedestrians go about their business. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

(190 Km/118 miles)

Day 6 / Phnom Penh-Siem Reap

After visiting some of the main landmarks of Phnom Penh in the morning we continue our Best of Cambodia Motorcycle Tour to Siem Reap. Some section we do on easy gravel as we are passing small little villages on our way to the most famous province in Cambodia. Siem Reap is located in northwestern Cambodia. There are colonial- and Chinese-style architecture in the Old French Quarter, and around the Old Market. Siem Reap today is being a popular tourist destination and has a large number of hotels, resorts, restaurants and businesses. This is much owed to its proximity to the Angkor temples, the most popular tourist attraction in Cambodia. We will have dinner downtown at the walking street. There are plenty of pubs with live music in the area, enjoy! Overnight in Siem Reap.

(320 Km/199 miles)

Day 7 / Siem Reap (Rest Day)

Today will be a cultural day on our Best of Cambodia Motorcycle Tour. Angkor Wat is a “once in a lifetime experience”. It is the national symbol and the highlight of any visit to Cambodia. Angkor Wat impresses visitors both by its sheer scale and beautifully proportioned layout, as well as the delicate artistry of its carvings.

Angkor Thom, the fortified city covers an area of 10 square km. Enclosed by a wall and wide moats, the city includes many of Angkor's most popular sights. The highlight is the visit at Ta Prom, one of the most popular attractions of Angkor as much of the jungle has not been cleared and it looks very much as most of the Angkor monuments would have appeared when European explorers first stumbled across them. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 8 / Siem Reap-Pailin

Leaving Siem Reap we ride in western direction. First stop is the silk farm where we get familiar with the ancient way of producing silk. At Sisophon we turn south-west and spend the rest of the day on rural roads. We are passing a couple of small towns on our way. We will take the opportunity to stop at one of the fresh markets. Lunch at a local Khmer restaurant. We will reach Pailin near the Thai border towards the end of the day. Overnight in Pailin.

(250 Km/155 miles)

Day 9 / Pailin-Chaolao

Final stretch riding in Cambodia. We are soon at the border, after clearing immigration and custom in Cambodia is time for the same formalities on the Thai side. Once in Thailand, we are again riding on the left side of the road. We follow the provincial road passing rice paddies and farm villages to Chantaburi where we turn right and cruise on back roads to the coast and towards our resort at Chaolao. Overnight in Chaolao, ending our Best of Cambodia Motorcycle Tour.

(140 km/87 miles)

Day 10 / Chaolao-Bangkok

After breakfast check out and transfer to the Airport. We are arranging one departure transfer to Suvarnabhumi airport. Or you stay a few days longer….
